On the 2-3 February 2007 a planning session for the Second Global Inter-Media Dialogue took place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The participants were international, Indonesian and Norwegian journalists and government officials.
28/05/2007 :: On the 2-3 February 2007 a planning session for the Second Global Inter-Media Dialogue took place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The participants were Indonesian and Norwegian journalists and government officials, Aidan White - General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists, as well as journalists from Novaja Gazeta, Russia, DPA and New Zealand.
The theme of the Second Global Inter-Media Dialogue will be Primetime for Diversity: Journalism in a Troubled World. The dialogue takes place in Oslo, June 4-5 2007.
The Dialogue will include four plenary sessions as well as three parallel sessions in the afternoons. The draft programme suggests a practical approach to the inter-media dialogue, focussing on:
• Diversity in practice – visuals and examples from an exchange of reporters between Norway and Indonesia
• Balanced Coverage in war and peace – contrasting visuals; two reporters covering the same event
• Practical solutions to reporting diversity – best practices, minority media
The parallel sessions will include a variety of themes and discussions under the following three head lines:
• Identifying challenges to journalism
• Ethical journalism in hostile environments
• Educating and empowering journalists
